vicidialai.com publishes technical tutorials on Vicidial, Asterisk, GoAutoDial and FreePBX, and offers managed Vicidial hosting services.

What we collect and why
Comments
When you leave a comment, we store what you type into the comment form along with your IP address and browser user agent string. The IP and user agent are used for spam detection — they are not used to profile you or build an advertising audience.
If you tick the box to save your details, your name, email and website are stored in a cookie on your own device so you don’t have to retype them. That cookie lasts a year and you can clear it at any time in your browser settings.
An anonymised hash of your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you have a profile picture. Gravatar’s privacy policy is at https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, any Gravatar picture appears publicly beside it.
Newsletter signups
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we store the email address you give us so we can send you new posts. We use it for that and nothing else. We do not sell, rent or share subscriber lists.
Every email includes an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing removes your address from the list.
Quote requests and support enquiries
If you email us about hosting or support, we keep the correspondence and whatever you tell us in it — typically your name, company, email, phone number and technical details about your dialer setup.
We use this to answer you, to scope and price work, and to provide the service if you become a customer. We do not use it for unrelated marketing.
Please do not send us passwords, API keys or server credentials by email. If we need access to your systems, we will arrange a secure method.
Server logs
Our web server records standard access logs: IP address, timestamp, page requested, referring page, user agent and response code. This is ordinary web server behaviour and is used for security monitoring, abuse detection and diagnosing faults.
Media
If you upload images to this site, avoid uploading files with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download images and extract any location data left in them.
Cookies
We use cookies for the following:

The login and editor cookies only apply to registered users — which for this site means administrators and authors, not ordinary visitors. Logging out removes the login cookies.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles here may embed content from elsewhere — videos, code samples, images. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited that other site directly. Those sites can set their own cookies, collect data about you, embed additional third-party tracking and monitor how you interact with the embedded content. If you have an account with them and are logged in, they may associate that activity with your account.
We have no control over what those third parties collect. Their own privacy policies apply.
Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only where necessary:
- Spam filtering. Comments may be checked by an automated spam detection service, which involves sending the comment and its metadata for analysis.
- Service providers. Our web host, email provider and newsletter platform process data on our behalf in order to run the site.
- Password resets. If you request one, your IP address is included in the reset email.
- Legal obligations. We will disclose data where we are legally required to.
How long we keep it
- Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely, so that follow-up comments from the same person can be recognised and approved automatically rather than queued for moderation.
- Registered user profiles are kept for as long as the account exists. Users can see, edit or delete their own information at any time, except their username. Administrators can also see and edit it.
- Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe.
- Enquiry correspondence is kept while we are in contact and for a reasonable period afterwards for business records.
- Server logs are rotated and deleted on a routine schedule.
Your rights over your data
If you have an account here or have left comments, you can ask us for an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including anything you gave us directly. You can also ask us to erase it.
Erasure does not extend to data we are required to keep for legal, accounting or security reasons.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights — for example to correct inaccurate data, to object to certain processing, or to complain to a data protection authority. Email info@vicidialai.com and we will deal with your request.
Where your data is sent
This site is operated from the United States and data is processed there. Visitor comments may be sent to an automated spam detection service for checking.
If you are accessing the site from outside the United States, be aware that your data will be transferred to and processed in a country whose data protection laws may differ from your own.
Security
We take reasonable technical measures to protect the site and the data on it, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), restricted administrative access and regular security patching.
No website can promise perfect security. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal data, we will notify affected people as required by law.
Children
This site is aimed at contact centre professionals and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal data, email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site or our services change. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be noted on this page.
